Hi KGAWI,
Thanks for addressing my comment. I certainly see where you guys are coming from.
This post is addressing the new “Gay Agenda” segment. As I was listening a thought struck me that I would love if you guys discussed.
You kept talking about how you wanted a meaningful episode regarding a gay couple. Thinking back to Boy Meets World though, they have a precedent of not making a big deal out of certain things. I am speaking of Shawn and Angela.
Not once was the fact that they were an interracial couple even brought up or discussed. They were just a normal couple going through normal problems. Now granted at the time the issue isn’t as large as the issue facing gay couples, but I feel that Girl Meets World could also go this route.
By not having a “very special episode” feel where they introduce a gay couple, just show couples of both types. What if at the school dance they simply had two guys slow dancing in the background? Or two women in the hallway passing by as a couple?
Yes it doesn’t address the hardships that kids who are gay go through, but in a certain way it shows that their relationship is as normal as everyone else at the school.
Like I said, just a thought that occurred to me. I don’t necessarily need it to happen this way, I just think it would be pretty cool if they simply turned it into a non issue in their show as they did with Shawn and Angela.
